2015 Annual Conference

By Chartered One

Carol McLachlan, the chair of the Liverpool Society’s Learning and Professional Development group previews the forthcoming Annual Conference.

The 2015 event is particularly prestigious and is being run in conjunction with the ICAEW, and in addition to the normal wondrous updates has a highly topical big-picture theme of the northern powerhouse.

Where will YOU be on 2 December?

I’m very much hoping that you will be with myself, and the rest of the LSCA committee, at Aintree for our innovative and inaugural joint conference with the ICAEW, ‘One North’. We are delighted to host an array of stimulating and topical contributors to explore ‘The future for SMEs’ through the lens of the city regions of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield, now seen as critical in creating vibrant, sustainable economic growth.

With keynote speaker, Mike Emmerich (Metro Dynamics, New Economy) we will look at how you and your clients can benefit from, and be part of, the future of One North. Mike was the instigator of the Manchester Independent Economic Review (MIER) and led the city region work on devolution, culminating in the ground breaking deal between the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Greater Manchester in November 2014. Mike will be joined by Michael Taylor (thinkmore) and Jenny Stewart (Chief Executive, Liverpool & Sefton Chambers) and an eclectic panel from across the northern region.

This is a conference for accountants and finance professionals, in business and commerce, from professional practice, of all sizes and from the third sector. Bring your clients and colleagues (members and non members) to network and build relationships in a stimulating and inspiring environment.

For £75 (non members £95) you will be part of the One North debate AND get your annual updates on financial reporting, tax and legal changes, including the reform of the Small Business Enterprise and Employment Act. Our regular and much loved technical speakers return: Marion Hodgkiss, Graham Bloor and Bernadette Worthing and they will be complemented by a selection of break-out workshops throughout the day.

To book, visit and search ‘One North’ or simply email Alex at

Looking forward to seeing you on 2nd December...
